All of the paintings I do are personal, but this one is possibly the most intensely personal I’ve done. In the summer of 2024 we lost Winston, an incredible and amazing pup who’d shared our lives for over 14 years. From the day we brought him home from the rescue in January of 2010 to that dark day in July when he lost his fight with an aggressive cancer, Winston made each and every day immeasurably better, simply by sharing his life with us. I will miss him every day.
He needed a monument to how wonderful he was, so I made this painting. There are even a few of his hairs added into the paint.
After so many years of trying to keep them out, it was surprisingly challenging to add them to a painting on purpose.
